Is Reiki Enough?

There comes a point in the lives of many Reiki healers when they itch to learn more, feel more, and do more. I know. I’m one of those people. I’m young and I enjoy this spiritual journey. Thing is — I just may feel like a kid on a journey til I leave for my next life. So, is Reiki enough for me? Yes! Absolutely! In its essence Reiki is perfect.

If you’ve been practicing or receiving Reiki with blissful results, and you don’t feel pulled to learn something more or try something else – my feeling is that Reiki is enough for you right now. If you are itching for something more, perhaps Reiki can help guide you to what you need.

Reiki is Like a Stem Cell

Reiki is a highly potent and beautiful form of energy healing where a practitioner, like me, transfers energy (vibration) to you through our hands, hearts, and intentions. I love it because it works every time. The transmission of these loving, healing vibrations affects each person on the level that they can accept. Sometimes people experience overall peace and relaxation, freedom from pain and illness, or a light of inner wisdom that helps them handle a pressing concern in their lives.

My own belief (and belief solidifies thought into matter and reality) is that the passing down of the Reiki tradition amplifies its effect. While Reiki was re-introduced to us through Mikao Usui in the last century, the teachings and symbols we use are ancient and span all major religions. I believe we have the energetic backing of every single person who ever used hands-on healing before it was called Reiki. I believe we have the energetic backing of those who created and used the symbols. When a practice is done so many times with similar intent that practice begins to hold an energy of its own – Reiki energy contains this passed-down group energy.

When you receive a Reiki Attunement, that group energy and more is intentionally placed in your body so that you can use it for good. I love the fact that we never know exactly WHY… but Attunements ALWAYS seem to help even the most skeptic people transfer healing energy to themselves and others. I was one of these skeptics (and often still am), and so was my hubby Doug.

When I say that Reiki works every time, I mean that as long as it is done properly (by someone Attuned, with good intentions and an allowing recipient) –Reiki enters your system (energy body and physical body), and takes care of whatever you need most. Many of us are unaware of what we do need most though. It can be a nap, a poop – even the manifestation of a call from our moms.

Just like a stem cell, Reiki can become anything in your body or your life. It can become detoxification. It can become money. It can become complete healing. When you are open to healing and completely ready to allow healing to flow into your life – connecting with a Reiki practitioner that vibes with you may be all you need to get to the core of your issues and spring yourself into your Bliss.

We are all called to heal in our own ways. Healing with Reiki can have the same results as healing with acupuncture, herbs, diet, yoga, shamanic work (and others)– depending on who you are and where you are on your journey. All natural healing modalities work similarly to bring your body into wholeness and balance. They all have the capability of clearing away mental and physical blocks to healing. And, from what I’ve experienced, many of these practices compliment each other very well. I myself take the opportunity to experience the energy gifts of my friends and colleagues whenever I can. You don’t need any particular form of energy work or alternative healing unless you feel drawn to it.

Reiki is the Gateway Energy

I often refer to Reiki as the gateway drug into psychic healing work. Because it is pure positive energy that can become anything for you, it activates your truest self. If you need to make great changes in your life, Reiki can be a gentle but powerful quantum leap into that transition.

From my own experience, each Reiki attunement and session with clients has brought me more into alignment with my purpose and abilities. I only feel that it is necessary to use my psychic and other healing abilities because I am called to do so. I feel that these skills help me help you.

Giving myself Reiki and sharing it with others has lead me to learn how to work with spirit guides, understand my intuitions and psychic prophesies, extend useful healing tips to my clients and friends, and continue to grow as a light worker. When I am working as an intuitive or Body Ecology coach, I am not directly performing Reiki – yet Reiki is at the core of everything I do.

I am often called to work with spirit guides, angels, food, oils, stones, animals, meditations, dance, sounds – and I do what I am drawn to. Not exactly Reiki, but a gift that began with Reiki.

Reiki is now accepted in many hospitals as a complimentary therapy to western medicine. It’s definitely proving to help mainstream energy healing. Even Dr. Oz mentioned Reiki lately. Most of my clients are GIFTED healers who are looking for a simple introductory step into the world of natural health, and they find that in Reiki.

As I grow, I’m able to offer my clients a lot more. I think this can vary depending on your practitioner. Some people experience instant gratification during a Reiki session, and this is definitely my intention. Other people find that they desire to learn more about why they have manifested their predicaments. In these cases, I even use Reiki to help facilitate deeper spiritual healing. Sure, other topics, like past lives and karma, may come up.

Reiki Is a Protected Energy

I did hands-on energy work before I learned Reiki and often felt it exhausting. I’d have good results, but then feel very depleted afterwards.  At times, I even got sick with illnesses that I was helping my clients  to heal. At first, I didn’t understand that absorbing negative energies was a possibility. But, it happened to me.

When I learned Reiki I learned that the energy I was using was not my own and this made all the difference. I was simply a channel for this healing work, and the results were out of my hands. I know some excellent energy workers who already understand this concept intuitively without needing to be attuned, and I know others who use their own energy effectively for helping others.

Reiki is an inherently protected practice that is ingrained with intention to keep the practitioner free from absorbing un-needed energies. Once I began practicing my energy work with my Reiki Attunement to support me, I noticed that I was no longer so strongly affected by dangerous energies.

I’ve Had My Doubts about Reiki

I’ve often felt like calling my work Reiki, limits me. After all, like many Reiki practitioners, I’m not just laying my hands on people. But, what if I was just doing that? I’ve finally come to a place where I feel a deep understanding of the simple beauty of Reiki. Jesus himself achieved instant healings by laying his hands on people in need. How did he know where to touch? How did he know what to say? Reiki comes from that. My visions and messages given to me from Jesus have let me know that he taught me what I do. Perhaps I lived in his time. Or, perhaps he is simply talking about a passing down of special energy.

Would Jesus or the Christ Consciousness approach a Reiki practitioner in a coffee shop and suggest that perhaps she was doing the wrong hands-on energy healing and that she should focus on Quantum Touch or Theta Healing? Not sure. But peeps have suggested that to me.

People tell me that they’ve had Reiki and didn’t like it, but that Theta Healing is the bomb. And, in my ideal world where labels don’t exist, I laugh and think that these are one in the same. That I am doing Theta healing (in my way).

I’ve come to the conclusion that Reiki was MY necessary step toward consciousness. And, it still is. I know I’m going to keep using it, but I also know it will keep growing. Calling myself a Reiki Master is also kind of silly to me, since I don’t believe that one can master energy. There is so much to learn.

Continuing Ed for Reiki Masters

I’m always taking classes and going to school to understand more about healing and connecting with energy. But, I have a great inner filter to help me determine what  to spend my time on. Thanks to my amazing teachers, I have learned how to choose classes that help me stay on my path.

I intend on completing my degree in Chinese Medicine as my life allows for that. I stray from teachings that attempt to negate any other teachings. I choose teachers who believe in the ultimate truth that we are all one. I choose subjects for the sake of self discovery and self healing.

I have learned that I am not doing “more than Reiki.” I am simply doing Reiki as I do Reiki and using the other gifts I am being called to use in addition.

Hands-on-Healing is a centuries-old gift that has been passed down by people like Jesus, Mikao Usui and mystics from all cultures. There is far too much information and high vibration there for me to fully understand in 4 years of practice. We are taught that Reiki is simply this transmission of energy, I believe it is so much more.

Is Reiki enough? That seems like such a silly question now.

Do you practice Reiki or enjoy Reiki healing sessions?

What do you think?

  1. Great article, Gina! My experience is that Reiki works through me. I coach, so I don’t do hands-on healing too often anymore, and yet Reiki is very much at the core of my coaching and I can see it in the healing that occurs for my clients, and for myself! I have given myself a huge gift by letting Reiki energy flow through me without trying to pin it into the confines of my own limited imagination!

    1. Thank you for reading And of course for introducing me to Reiki. I feel the same as you. I just let Reiki flow through everything I do. It’s pretty amazing. xo
