Do Affirmations and Gratitude Really Work? There’s Only One Way to Tell!

Call us the skeptical mystics. We like to see tangible proof. We spend our days working with subtle energies that most people can’t see. And, we are constantly pinching ourselves to make sure we’re not dreaming. So, to prove we’re not just loony, Doug and I are going to put our gratitude in writing for a month and share with you the tangible results of our quest.

It would Rock our Worlds to have you Join Us!

There’s plenty of proof that that the flow of life is dependent upon vibration. DNA changes as a result of vibrational communication and interpretation. I’ve done distance Reiki sessions where clients claim to have felt things moving inside their bodies at the exact time that I focus on flushing out tumors or repairing tissues. Then, I get calls about how pain has disappeared or allergies are simply gone.

Heart Math tells us that the vibration that comes from our hearts is the strongest one our bodies emit, and that it has the power to create much healing. The vibration of gratitude comes from our hearts. I noticed that when I create vision boards, desires manifest pretty quickly if I focus on my gratitude while pasting pics.

This is not enough proof for us. We have tons of faith that this all works. But we want to know more and share more with you. One of our favorite things to do with new clients is spend five minutes on gratitude, because when we do that — they nearly always see tangible results right after our session.

Our lives have been BLISSED for sure. We seem to get everything that we ask for. A rather silly example is how we get furniture for our new apartments. We have a manifestation routine that goes a little something like this: We look at our empty apartment and say out loud what we imagine in each spot. Then, we spend about 2 weeks collecting the exact same items from alleys and thrift stores. Nice things too. You’d never know that most of our apartments have been furnished for free. We visualized a free brown leather couch in Chicago that we hated to part with when we left. But, we gave it to a friend on the faith that we’d find a new one in Santa Monica. And, of course we did. Right in our own alley.

We are so grateful to be taken care of by the Universe like this. And, we feel it’s our responsibility to continuously share with you how easily vibrations can be changed to work out better for you. You can change the vibrations of guilt and worry into love and gratitude and experience life completely differently.

Today, there are some things that we want in our lives. And, I got the message that as I evolve as a healer my energy becomes more and more clear. I’ll only be really happy if I spend most of my time focussed on high vibrations like gratitude. So, we’re going to post our gratitude journals here for a month, and spill the beans on what we see happening in return.

As for those “things” that we want? We’re looking for more financial stability, and growth of our business. We would also like to take more classes to continue our alternative health education.

So, without further ado…

Time for some gratitude attitude! Yo DJ give me a fat beat to show some love to this awesome month. We have met new friends, learned new things, regressed and progressed. It’s been a month of deep understanding in what we do and who we are.

We spent time each day taking in our opportunities and blessings. We focused on healthy manifestation and worked towards happiness through self-fulfillment. If a scenario wasn’t for the greater good of making us smile, we found ways to turn it into something optimistic.

Dwelling will only bring more to dwell on. Like attracts like. Please take some time today to see the bright side of your life. We all have miraculous ability to make anything out of our future that we want. Fill yourself with hope and possibility. We make the change.

It’s somewhat difficult to put into words the tremendous results we’ve seen through this month of consciously practicing gratitude. Here are some of the highlights:
*A new and improved sense of financial freedom and security (yeah, we know!)
*Double or even Triple the access we had to healthy foods
*Business and personal connections in our new town
*Lots of physical healing and and developmental strides for Dougie
*Ideas to carry us through the next part of our adventure
*Much more success and consistency in our home school project
*More Happy Clients and connections with the Right People
*Healing of Old Emotional Wounds
*Creative Release
*Physical Healing for all 3 of us (Especially a very eye-opening liver detox)
*The ability to much more quickly recoup ourselves after a difficult moment
*Being More productive and selective with our time
*Past-Life Memories and Healing
*Tremendous increase in Intuitive Abilities
*Support from friends far and wide

We didn’t ask for most of this, but inside we knew we needed it. The need to be properly rewarded for the work we do, helps us continue on this path. It would be the same for anyone, we think. But, sometimes we just don’t even know what to ask for. We were so distraught a month ago, and we thought that all we really needed was material. We thought we had a handle on the spiritual and emotional stuff. Yes, it’s our strong-suit, for sure. But, simply practicing gratitude everyday has made us see everything more clearly. We are, once again– amazed.

WE’RE SO INSPIRED THAT WE’VE DECIDED TO GET BACK ON OUR MISSION OF TRAVELING THE GLOBE AND BRINGING HEALING RIGHT TO YOUR DOORSTEP WITH THE PERFCT ECO-FRIENDLY RV. CHECK OUT HOW YOU CAN HELP US DO THAT AND RECEIVE FREE GIFTS AND DISCOUNTS IN RETURN!

Check out our whole Gratitude Journal Experiment here. We’re definitely not finished. well keep sharing as we go.

Gratitude Journal Experiment Days 17-22: Gratitude Journaling Results

20120514-193418.jpg

Wow! All of this thankful talk has really got me. I’m amazed. We’ve come full circle in so little time, all because we stopped stressing over what was bothering us and kept focus on what makes us happy.

Last month seems like a dream to me now. Back then I was whimpering over plumbing problems in the third world country we decided to visit on our Tour de Bliss– and now, I’m lounging in a comfy chair on a breezy roof-deck listening to the birds and roosters sing.

If we were setting out to improve anything, it would’ve been our financial situation and how that also relates to all of those material human stuffs that we need for balance such as our physical health and connection to our bodies, availability of healthy food, our home-front, and our business and work situation. When things seemed to get “bad” for us, it was always on the material front. Our spirits freaken shine like neon lights. We know we are on the right life path. But, there have been times when we’ve cheated ourselves out of full reward for our work. This left us tired, sick and often struggle-working for money.

We created the gratitude experiment to change that. Not knowing what we could possibly do differently, on the work front (as far as career changes etc), we decided to put extra faith in what we already do. We teach people about energy, love, gratitude and co-creation of Bliss.

So, we’ve given ourselves an extra heaping helping of our own medicine.

Here’s our Lists of the moment.

Doug’s Gratitude List
:
Green grass
Smiling dogs
Smoothies
Markets
Naps
Hugs
Yoga with Dougie
Hidden paths
Fresh food

Dougie’s Gratitude List:
Tinny the tin toy

Gina’s Gratitude List:
The voice of a soul sister
The sound of Kundalini Yoga chanting
Thoughtfulness of others
Swimming in the ocean
Taking the long way home
Feeling at home
Breakfast with friends
Amazing Clients

The Results:

Having done this each day for close to a month now has helped us measure some concrete results.

We have officially increased our readership, private client base and income, and still been able to spend less time online

We’ve greatly improved our homeschool/unschool program for Dougie and he seems to be learning in greater detail and with greater interest and involvement.

We have met countless amazing people in our new town and have been shown amazing generosity and hospitality. We have found everything we were looking for in a town that will provide us with healthy food, friends, support, stability, fun, conscious events and more.

Can you just tell that we’re happy? We’re satisfied! We will be teaching some classes and setting up shop here (with a few small trips to ruins etc) until we get our new Bliss Mobile. Looks like after 12 years, we’re in a place inside ourselves that fosters creativity and spirit enough for me to feel like I can continue writing a novel series I started so long ago. Gratitude seriously reminds me that that place has always been there, it’s just ever -growing. Now, I see it more clearly.

Gratitude Journal Experiment Days 12-15: Forget Manifestation! This is God at Work –Gratitude Journaling Results

20120507-214456.jpg

We’ve done it again. Surprised ourselves with how eternally good life can be when we slow down and smell the flowers. And the coffee.

I’ve always been happy. I just used to think that to be happy I had to have something to make me happy — you know, like a nice friend, a chocolate cake, a cuddly blanket, sweet kisses from a sweet dude…. Stuff like that.

And, even though 7 years ago, I learned that loving myself was an option thanks to a very dear friend who had herself just discovered the phenomenon — I continue to sink deeper into the depths of that pleasure.

We started this gratitude blog, so that we could train ourselves to live more in that heart vibration. We know that our hearts vibrate so much stronger than our minds that the frequency can even heal DNA. We know that when we really align our thoughts and actions with what’s right in our hearts, we often manifest amazing “things” and experiences. Naturally, we figured that journaling our experience would help us prove that gratitude does WORK. But we’re not new age mumbo-jumbo blowers. We don’t believe we have full control. We believe we are connected co-creators, and that just because we may desire a million dollars, we’re not going to manifest it by simply being super grateful. It’s certainly not impossible. It’s completely probable –if the million bucks is exactly what we need to fulfill our purpose.

It seems that by beginning with the things or concepts that make us happy in the moment, we discover the deeper sense of happiness within… Or, we in fact CREATE a deeper sense of happiness that isn’t reliant on stuff or experiences.

We’ve been able to manifest a great number of “things” thanks to our clear connection with spirit. We are absolutely always taken care of in the best ways. This has been the case for me even since I was a small child. If I need a quarter, I find a quarter. If I’m craving ice cream, someone hands me a cone. I truly never want painfully for what I don’t have. I’ve intuitively summoned help from people during the middle of the night, found free furniture that was shown to me in visions, known exactly where to travel, who to talk to… Stuff like that.

That said, we went through some tough piles of dung recently. As we move on our spiritual path, we’ve been challenged with connecting our own spirits and bodies. We’ve had some physical limitations that I’ll talk about in another post. Many things that seem real and concrete in the social, outside world like money, food, establishments, schools, politics and Rules about the “norm” have revealed their falseness to us. It is as if we are being spiritually led to not buy into them, yet we have to play the game a little for natural physical survival. Well, I got to meet my angry side again, and so did the fam…. So that was interesting. We’ve all had some mood swings.

But, we’ve remained grateful and realistic. When these feelings come up, we usually wind up laughing at them in a matter of minutes. But because we still had some remnants of those old paradigm rules for happiness, we’d stuffed down the less savory emotions. So, Doug allows me to get all angry, and I allow him to say “Fuck” and we give Dougie his space to cry. Then we all have a laugh.

I thank the Gratitude Experiment for allowing us all to slow down and make this release possible.

Here’s our lists for Today:

Dougie’s Gratitude List:
Mater!
Hudson

The Results
So, let’s talk more about some concrete things that have happened for us in the last few days.
We took a jungle walk and discovered a swim-able beach haven that’s virtually secluded. It has a mediation hut built from palm trees, and the air is magnificently clean. This discovery came after me putting out the intention to help Dougie receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The rest of the weekend flowed like a testimonial for “the Secret. I asked for a health food store in town, and suddenly a brand new one opened its doors. I asked for a kombucha scoby and was told that nobody here does that. Then, of course I met a woman who gave me… Not only a scoby and free bottle of home-made kombucha, but also some veggie culture starter. Wow! I thought… If I only had coconut kefir starter. Wouldn’t you know, she had some…. But she couldn’t give me any. So, I took a walk and met another woman who happened to be reading the Body Ecology book. Naturally, I calmed my enthusiasm, and in 2 minutes had her bringing me milk and water kefir grains, home made yogurt, coconut water kefir, and placing an order for Body Ecology starters and supplements. Now, it looks like I may soon be teaching a gut health class in Sayulita.

We like it so much here that we’ve stalled our plans for Ecuador a little. We were taking a walk talking about whether we should go to Ecuador at all, when we met Amy– someone who lived in Quito Ecuador for 6 months and highly recommends it. Sign?

Today, we were gifted with raw coconuts right from the tree too!

If you follow the stars, you know that Venus is in retrograde right now, which leaves many of us trying to filter out that which we don’t need in order to integrate the rest more harmoniously. We are doing lots of this here in Bliss Land. And we decided to spend less time online and more time living. I think this is going to make us even happier!

Check out our gratitude journal progression. And, hey — if you get inspired, join us and share too!
Yours in Bliss
Gina, Doug and Dougie

Gratitude Journal Experiment: Day 11- Gratitude Journaling Results

20120503-204037.jpg

We have been practicing the gratitude agenda for over a week now. It’s been useful on a daily basis to keep reminding ourselves about the wonder that the world offers us. It seems like such a small thing, but it adds up at the end of the day. There have been times in my life when I can remember spending ample amounts of time on simply avoiding issues and making it through the work week. It’s so counter-productive to spend time worrying.

The Gratitude Journal is a reminder to keep your head in the direction of bliss. If you are reading these posts, then please take the time to set up your own journal. At the very least, reflect on what you are doing during the day and make sure that you are seeing the bright side of your situation. I know that there are times that are trying, and you might find it hard to see the positive, but I can guarantee you that if you can break through those moments with a healthy outlook that you will be rewarded as we have.

So, let’s get to the fam’s list o’ the day.

Doug’s Gratitude List:

Cobblestone streets

Today was relaxed and productive. We visited new places and received some tasty samples. I was invited into a home business and given some fresh homemade treats. We even met some Californians out here in no man’s land, and they invited us out for breakfast. Taking one step at a time, making sure to pet the puppies and smell the flowers with our full attention, we had a lot of cool experiences. Looking forward to tomorrow and making more out of our travels.

Gratitude Journal Experiment: Day 10- Gratitude Journaling Results

20120502-211833.jpg

An awesome night’s sleep. We enjoyed last night until we passed out and didn’t wake up until we were fully rested. It’s been a while since I was able to say that for the whole family. This gratitude journey of ours might have something to do with it. Regardless, we are trying to squeeze everything out of life that we can and it seems to be taking us where we want to go.

We started the Gratitude Journal off as a guide for ourselves to make sure that we were appreciating everything that life was offering us. Just like everyone else, we have gone through times that were high energy and times that were low. It makes you question the sense in everything. How can you feel so great and then a month later you just want to sit around and watch YouTube all night.? (You know, those videos about Mars being populated and the President’s real agenda).

The journal brings up an interesting side to this equation. If you aren’t spending time thinking about the positive and how it is bringing you higher vibrationally, then you’re missing something special that’s to be had for all. See the benefit in today and relish in it.

Doug’s Gratitude List:
Sweet treats
Family walks
The lizard on my wall

Today was great. We got in new clients, and talked to good people. We finished things up with a long walk through a very majestic town. Keeping a healthy outlook and enjoying the ride, we enjoyed the whole day. I’m feeling like tomorrow is going to be even better, and look forward to sharing it.

Gratitude Journal Experiment: Day 9- Gratitude Journaling Results

20120501-220633.jpg

We eased into the day. One minute of bliss at a time. Took a walk through the jungle and marveled at the plethora of wildlife and magical life that inhabit its majesty. What a world we live in. Overly descriptive, but true.

How often do we find the time to stop and enjoy all of the beauty that surrounds us? No matter what your situation has to offer, there are always sunrises and sunsets. Good people to line the path your day might take. Little surprises to remind you that this life is ever-changing and unexpected at its core. You never know what tomorrow will bring, so take in every moment like you mean it.

In the past day we have received new clients and found cool places to enjoy life. There has been more nature around us and a better sense of our surroundings. Answers have been coming to us in a calm and efficient manner, which has paid off positively. In the fateful words of Ice Cube “Got to say it was a good day.”

Check out our other Gratitude Journal posts and join us. We’d love to hear what your grateful for.

Gratitude Journal Experiment: Days 6, 7, and 8- Gratitude Journaling Results

20120430-201232.jpg

Another day of gratitude begins. This weekend seemed to start off a bit sluggish, with many decisions to make quickly. It wasn’t the way that we usually like to get going. We hashed over ideas for a while and then decided to let the answers come to us.

Gina sat at the ocean. Dougie and I took a stroll. Somewhere in that process the answers came to us freely. And, without any worry we had worked out our issues.

This might seem like a trivial coincidence. But, when positivity is happening every time we let go and enjoy life, it’s the type of occurrence that begs attention. People will tell you that life is what you make of it. Really dissect that statement and think about it. Life is what you make of it. Your thoughts dictate your day. A person who is happy, genuinely happy, will always find ways of making their day better than someone who is dwelling on negativity.

So without further ado, here are a list of grateful’s to kick off your own thought process:

Doug’s Gratitude List:

Wrestling with Dougie
Massages
Tea with friends
Long stretches
Local hangouts
Pie with coconut ice cream
Laughter

Dougie’s Gratitude List

Making robots
A machine robot
WALL.E
EVE
Race cars with stickers
Thx

Gina’s Gratitude List
My husband’s patience
My husband’s motivational support
A new home
The smell of my childhood in my new kitchen
Tons of sleep
Soul connections

The Results

Well, as you know we were having some problems at our apartment. It simply didn’t feel like home. The whole thing seemed to turn around in a flash after Gina spent 15 minutes watching the ocean. We found a fairy-tale looking apartment in a little surf village full of organic food, yoga studios, nature, gong baths and wonderful people. And we are paying 200 dollars less that what we paid in our last place in Puerto Vallarta.

We’ve also made many new connections with wonderful people and we think we will be living and working here in Sayulita, MX for a few months while Gina works on her novel, and we get Blissed Life going to the next level.

Join us in our Experiment! Check out our gratitude blogs and add your own!
Until Later,

Gina, Doug and Dougie

One really cool thing is that the 3 of us seem to be really flowing together even more than usual. Of course, we spend lots of time together anyway and rarely argue. But, now we seem to be taking more needed personal time, and coming together more consciously. We’re paying closer attention to our individual needs and paying closer to attention to one another’s needs too. That was unexpected but very needed.

As far as our business goals, we couldn’t be happier. We’re getting more and more readers from all over the world and we feel very productive.

The weekend’s here now. So, we’re gonna relax into this gratitude vibe and see how we can ride that wave even longer. Well have more on this for you Monday!

Gratitude Experiment Day 4: Holy Blisst! –Gratitude Journal Results

20120426-203314.jpg

It’s day 4 of our gratitude journaling experiment and Thank the Angels, we’ve hit some major breakthroughs. You see, we were really inspired to start this little project because we know we have the power to improve things for ourselves–but we were a little bummed.

We began our Bliss Tour with the intentions of living more sustainably, adventuring out into culturally rainbowlicious places, and having more time with Mama Earth. And, even though we made the decision to sell our first BlIss Mobile after she broke down in Amarillo, TX– our new plan to hit Central and South America via Mexico sounded very exciting and also a great way to save money for a new house on wheels.

Buhhhhhhhhhht, dang! It’s been tough to get healthy foods here in Mexico. Were living in our third city in 3 months, and last week we hit a low point. All were really wanted were some conscious local friends to chat conspiracy over green juice with, ya know?

All we really wanted was to be able to afford the extra dough it costs to eat healthier here.

All we really wanted was for our plumbing to quit exploding and for heaven’s sake— to have some real contact with nature (new post coming on our actual experiences in Mexico with pics).

So, 4 days ago we decided to put all of our eggs in the gratitude basket, so to speak, and quit our whining about what we don’t have. Clearly, the fresh green coconuts that I get every day outside my door can help me sustain a decent gratitude glow. Clearly there are plenty of good things about Mexico, even if it isn’t our dream destination.

I can’t wait longer to share the results, so here you go:

This morning, we were invited out to breakfast by a new friend, and introduced to a few local healers who just so happened to be part of a Quantum Healing Expo. I got a free biofeedback session that was really soothing. It was awesome to swap stories and talk about things we are interested in.

Then, you’ll never believe this. I’m not one for zoos really. But I love animals and crave time with them. I got to sit face to face with a tiger, and just enjoy his warm company. His name was Diego, and a tiny fence with holes separated us. I wanted to pet him, but I didn’t. It was nice to just relax with him. He had quite a healing effect on me. Then, the boys and I strolled back to our side of town and had a delicious vegetarian buffet, met more smiling people, and now we are sitting at a Spanish Tapas joint with live music– and Dougie just manifested a his favorite French song just by mentioning it to us. I’m linking the song here. We are so grateful for all of these new goodies in our lives. Here goes our individual lists.
