What is Your Biggest Fear?: Let’s Deal

Mine is that I don’t have the right words to articulate my message. That I won’t be able to reach those who need me, and ultimately I’ll be alone — making no impact. I’m laughing looking at the words I just wrote. But, in some ways these words are very true. And, they are the biggest reason for my not living up to my potential. Read more

Gratitude Experiment Day 3: Gratitude Journaling Results

20120425-155817.jpg

Hello Day 3 of our Gratitude Experiment. the Dougs and I are taking extra time to focus on and share our gratitude journals with you to see if we can come up with any tangible connections of goodness that can be attributed to these vibes.

Gratitude comes from our heart chakras, and geniuses continue to prove that our heart chakras emit the strongest vibration in our bodies. stringer than the ones emitted by our brains. And, since DNA can be morphed based on vibrational communication, well we believe that the heart vibe of gratitude has the humongous power of granting all of us all the great stuff that makes life more BLISSED.

We’ve already seen (since embracing this lifestyle years ago) that we can now handle the “hard times” with so much more ease, and the good times have become more abundant too.

Part of the reason we came here to Earth this time is to help show you just how simple it can be to understand the workings of vibration in your life. So, here’s our gratitude lists for today, and what we’ve noticed since yesterday.

Join us if you like. Share what you are grateful for and increase this vibration exponentially! If you’re inspired to send us your gratitude stories, we can publish those too.

Yesterday’s Results

We decided to take a really calm day yesterday. We talked about what we would do if all of our business goals had been met, and I said I would sleep for 10 days. So, in the spirit of not waiting to do what my body needs to do, I slept for about 10 hours. It was glorious. The Doug’s did homeschool and watched movies and when I awoke, we went out and grabbed some fresh food for dinner– coconuts, mangoes, bananas and rice and beans. Hey, when in Mexico… Right?

The most noticeable results for the Big Doug and me are our state of calm and increase of psychic connection. We both feel a lot more clear about our intuitions and are having amazing dreams. I’ll share some dreams in upcoming posts.

Our Business goals continue to grow like sprouting seedlings of Love. We are being read in so many countries daily and receiving the best compliments from our clients. We love what we do and are sure it’s the right choice for us. Were hoping that getting more in alignment wi the essence f who we are will help us in our jobs of spreading consciousness, and in effect make our jobs easier.

Oh what a beautiful ride!

Let us know of you want to share your own stories.

Love!

Gina and the Dougs

Keep up with each day’s results here!

PS. Today’s pic is inspired by the fact that today Dougie washed dishes while I sat on the bed and wrote. When I got up to see what an awesome job he did (all the dishes were clean), here was a pan full of crayons on the stove that he as planning to cook. The kid floats my boat!

Gratitude Experiment Day 2: Gratitude Journaling Results

20120424-193626.jpg

So, yesterday we started this experiment to help us see exactly how the act of expressing gratitude attracts health, wealth, abundance and all that good jazz in into our lives. We know it works because we have been rather BLISSED throughout our relationship. We express gratitude, love and high vibes and we are constantly rewarded. But, is there any way to prove this to the skeptic side of us? There are of course, some things we desire right now that would make our lives and business run much smoother. We think. That means we have something measurable.

Each day the Dougs and I will share our gratitude journal with you. And, we’ll let you know the results we see from that expression too. Dougie just jumped on board last night, so we’re excited to have the whole family doing this.

We’re not just Journaling gratitude though. We’re focussing on living on that vibration or higher. We’re allowing worried or fearful thoughts to drift as we notice them. We’re spending extra time on meditation and self-care because it feels good and adds to our gratitude. And, we’re doing what we can to transfer that vibration to you. We’re not simply being grateful because we want things. We’re focusing on the gratitude we already have to see what effects it has on our lives.

We’ll focus on the positive results we’ve seen, but if anything crazy or seemingly negative comes up — we’ll tell you about that too. Tomorrow you’ll get to see our vision board, so that hopefully we can all have a better view of what we would like to accomplish.

Yesterday’s Results

After spending a morning in gratitude, doing yoga and just loving each other– we went out and had a very productive work-day, talked to lots of new people en espanol and got many smiles.

Overall, there was a newness to the happy feeling we all had. We felt lighter and freer. We put out the intention to attract more money and financial stability, and there were moments during the day where we felt ourselves being detached from the power of money. No money came, but instead a feeling of freedom from it started to creep in. We had a fabulous day. We walked across the Jalisco, MX state line, and enjoyed banana trees, hiding kittens and simply being together.

Then, as we rounded our corner to enter our apartment last night, a neighborhood drug addict began screaming in our faces. That was a bit silly, and I became sad for him. But, we found ourselves able to send him love and not be as negatively affected by it as we may have been a few years ago. We were able to witness what happened and take a lesson without being emotionally tied to it. That was cool.

We’re already feeling calmer and more satisfied. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Join us in sharing your gratitude, won’t you?

Love You!

The Business of Being You: Entrepreneur Love

20120316-200736.jpg

Whatever you’re selling — I want it!

Your writing sends me to places I can’t even find in dreams. Your chocolate is delicious. Your artwork–wow! I love the way you bring people together. I want to learn how to do what you did. How’d you score that client? Where’d you learn to do that? How many more of these do you have for sale now? What’s your website and how can I order more more more time with the amazingness of you?

You must have a site, right? You must be selling something?

Let me know the details and I’ll PayPal you ASAP. Because we need you. We’ve been waiting so long for someone like you.

I really think it’s mostly about the way you put your heart into everything you do. I can tell you really enjoy it.

I had no idea it was a side gig. Yeah, mine was too. I always had a messy pile of artwork and writing going on in the center of my bedroom floor that stayed there until I got home from one of my day-jobs. There was always a myriad of jobs too. Have you experienced that? I went from being a dental assistant, to barista, to teacher, to phone answerer. But the last gig I had kinda wiped me out. And that’s when my hubby and I pinky swore that we’d never sweat another drop of love in someone else’s office.

Yeah, I’d rather visit the gynecologist or my mother-in-law before getting another day- job. So, I know how you feel.

But, you know that drive that surges through you when you’re creating? That’s the same energy it takes to move forward into succeeding financially in your creative business.

Imagine your ideas stirring inside of you, brewing and bubbling. And you dance with these ideas as you bring them into fruition. As the product of your desires becomes real, that stirring inside of you rises up, and you begin to notice how wonderful it feels and looks. You know that it was a force beyond yourself that aided in this creation. And yet, somehow you were worthy of their assistance. Look deeper. And, you will see that this entity beyond you is YOU. It’s  just the more true you. The one being more true to your desires.

When you create, you are brining your desires to life.

That’s the YOU I want to be friends with.

If you’re gonna sell anything, that’s the best part to sell. When you sell what you desire, you are doing what you came here to do. You are connecting your energy with Universal Energy. Universal Energy likes to be used. You will constantly be replenished. You’ll never be too tired for work. The day you wake up too tired for work is the day when your work is to rest.

Who knew that life and business was all about Being?

Soul Searching and Finding Light

I am a being of light. I open my hands and I heal. I broadcast energy as I walk down the street or shop for my groceries. I shine from within and scream with intense joy, but it wasn’t always so.

I used to work long hours at jobs that created stress throughout my mind and body. I thank my guides and mentors every day for their direction, compassion and second chances.  Without them, I might still have ulcers and a poor attitude towards people and life.

I remember my friends and family telling me that I was overly negative. I had no clue what they were talking about. I thought that I was happy and successful. I was just a man doing what men do. I went to work and drilled myself into the ground to create a comfortable life for my family. This type of sacrificial consciousness is not very conscious.

When I was attuned to Reiki I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Funny thing is that my teacher knew that about me. I could see it in her eyes. It wasn’t disapproval that I felt, more like empathy for someone truly lost. I received my attunement with a knowing smirk that I only came to understand recently. Thank you!

I wish that I could transfer my understanding to the planet through a worldwide email that when read would make people illuminate. I wish that I could explain that the problems that we all face in our day to day occupations are all in our heads. Nobody is capable of making you sad, angry, happy or any other emotion.

You place yourself in these moods. If someone is making you mad then perhaps you need to do some soul searching.

The person who cuts you off in traffic and then flicks you off as a topper is having their own issues that brought them to that point. They are showing you what they are truly made of at that particular time. It is not a reflection of you. Think about it. If a child came up to you and said that you were out of your mind it simply would not be worth taking seriously, so why do we allow it to effect us coming from an adult? It might sting if that same child said that you were over weight or balding, but that sting is truly your own consciousness saying that you need to make some changes and haven’t yet. You would be coming down on yourself.

There is always an internal reason when your mood changes. People like to blame their emotions on others, but the only person who can make a change in you is you. It took me decades to really grasp this overly simple concept. You can’t change me and I cant change you. Nor should we crave that type of misguided relationship with each other.

You can live your life without the stress and demands of others. You are inherently free now and forever. Even if you were to be imprisoned or forced into another life you still are in control of your own spirit. You can soar above your constraints and feel the power associated with a truly liberated consciousness. Enjoy your life today and every day after this one to its top potential. Never be brought down for any reason.

Just remember that the more that you let go and accept that you are perfect just the way you are, the more you will get in return.

Namaste,

Doug

9 Suitcases 9 days to Pack: A Challenge in Simplicity

Beginning our road adventures without the house on wheels is forcing us to release more of our possessions than we first planned. Amtrak allows for 9 suitcases. I’m thinking, okay great – let’s travel lightly: First pack the Vitamix (20 lbs of blender), now the water ionizer, my massage table, food dehydrator (nope, we’ll ship that to our first stop)….. We really don’t own many “things,” but our stuff is expensive, heavy and well – very useful for our lifestyle. While I know we will be happier without a hub-bub of material, I need some serious and quick reflection on what’s truly important to us.

So I made a list. Well several.

Necessities for RV Living

  • warm blankets and pillows
  • towels
  • clothes
  • toiletries
  • tent and camp supplies
  • bikes
  • beach umbrella
  • kite
  • Vitamix
  • spiral slicer (oh yes!)
  • food dehydrator
  • water filter
  • minimal dishware and utensils (bamboo and handmade bowls + McDonald’s Dinnerware )
  • yoga mats
  • weights
  • kitchen supplies (nut-milk bag, cutting board)
  • cds
  • family photos
  • food/herbs

Work and Homeschool

  • 2 laptops
  • camera
  • Flip Cam
  • books and research
  • biomat
  • healing stones
  • massage table
  • tapestries
  • drum
  • rain stick

Dougie

  • blocks
  • crayons and paper/coloring books
  • fave toys (Woody, Buzz, Toy Story gang)
  • ball and glove
  • puzzles
  • playing cards

We have to cross out things like the massage table and bikes which cannot fit on the Amtrak, and are easily replaceable after a quick stint on Craig’s List. The kite and weights will have to go too. Our clothes are already minimal and ready to be squished in the vacuum travel bags.

Things like my juicer, ice cream maker, Magic Bullet Express, which is awesome for cultured veggie making, are all going to have to stay behind. So is my Dyson Vac– The King of Clean. I sure will miss him.

Good thing the dehydrator is being shipped to meet us when we arrive in Chi-town. Can’t live on the road without kale chips.

So, is this list practical?

We’ll need to replace our cookware once we score the RV because lugging it doesn’t make sense. Have you lived in an RV? Any tips on living light and still covering all the bases? We’ve made a commitment to make only sustainable purchases – those which are as eco friendly as possible, long-lasting, and can be re-used, re-purposed or recycled. Of course, we’re not opposed to alley shopping.

Now, to do something sustainable with the great items that will be left behind.

Making the decision to simplify isn’t always easy as pie – even if you aren’t completely married to your stuff. Fact is, we bought our stuff (or rescued it from the alley). So, we are responsible for it. We won’t throw it away. Where is “away” anyway? We won’t give it to someone who won’t use it or someone who will dump it soon.

We’ve chosen to list the big stuff on Craig’s List and host a Bon Voyage Easter Potluck to give the rest away to friends. If you’re in Santa Monica this Sunday and want to have dinner and possibly take home a crock pot – talk to me. Whatever is still here Monday will be taking a walk to the best alley locay for dumpster diving or the Salvation Army down the street.

I can’t wait to see what actually makes it on to the train with us, what we ship to meet us and what we say goodbye to. I’ll keep you posted.

We’ll be back in SoCal this summer for more adventures and with even less stuff!

xoxo

Bliss Tour, Chocolate, Reiki and a Sustainable Lifestyle

This Post was originally written in January 2011, at the beginning of our Bliss Tour! It’s cool to see how far we’ve come — buying and selling the RV, traveling the US and living in Mexico for 6 months. Life is BLISS!

Back in December 2010, I drew the “retreat card” from a deck of angel cards and the events that have ensued have been crazy style amazing.  I gotta say that as an energy worker and one who constantly witnesses the results of the “super natural” in action –I’m quite the skeptic. I’m not one for tarot cards. I’m not one for listening to “guides” or psychics — UNLESS the messages ring true for me on a deep level. I mean logic has got to play some role in my decision-making.

That retreat card symbolized the simple sustainable adventurous life that Doug and I have dreamed of our whole lives. 2 years ago, the same energy brought us to Santa Monica, CA to get healthier, expand our minds and our business ideas. Things just move fast in Bliss Land.

We’re growing so quickly, we can’t help but feel the urge to use that expansive energy to spread the Bliss to you. I recently wrote a blog titled “How your intuition can save the world.” This trip is my husband’s and my intuitive answer to the next step in fulfilling our purpose.

How can we all live a more sustainable, Blissy, earth-loving life?

We hope to find out. Purging more possessions and gearing up to live in and travel via RV (on veggie fuel and/or zero emissions vehicles), composting, wild food forging, planting, unschooling, sharing from our hearts will  help us discover that. So will connecting with all of you.

We feel that there is a better way to feel good and accomplish your goals, and we’re on the road to discover that. It’s time to change things around. Re-allocate the wealth to the people, shift our priorities and wake up to what we can do to help.

Our gift is primarily our energy and our experience. By giving of our truest selves we hope to inspire you to do the same and find your purpose.

Life on the Road

Do you know that at the rate of waste that we create — we actually require the equivalent of 3 planet earths to manage our crap? We cannot subscribe to that which so deeply harms our planet… anymore.

Need the Bliss Machine

We’re in search of a used RV that can be made to run on veggie fuel or some other sustainable fuel. We’re jumping without the net because our message has to get out there. If you know of an RV for sale…  (or rent, buy, barter or borrow) send the deets our way.

Look Forward To

We’re hosting camping retreats, classes, potlucks and offering all of our current coaching and healing services. The only difference is that this time – it’s very likely we’ll be able to talk and work with you in person. Check our Tour Events link for scheduled cities, and blogs for our latest updates.

Reiki

We’ll be incorporating energy Healing and Reiki in most of our workshops. Our final Santa Monica (Reiki Level 1 and 2) certification class before we leave, takes place this Saturday April 23. Please email me at Gina@BlissedLife.com if you’d like to join us.

Host Us in Your Area

Contact us if you’d like to host a class in your home or town. Hosts get free classes and private sessions.

Chocolate

I can’t leave you without some chocolate. My Italian Nana taught me better than that. For some of you celebrating easter next Sunday, you might like to make these for your loved ones as a much healthier option.

This is from my upcoming book, “Are You Eating Your Bugs?”

Cultured Cacao-Wows

  • 2 ½ cup raw organic cacao powder

  • 1 tbsp Vitamineral Green powder
  • 1 packet Body Ecology kefir starter
  • 1 packet Body Ecology culture starter
  • Glass jar or bowl with lid

Add-ins: sea salt, cacao nibs, and mesquite; cherries, cayenne and sea salt; maca, mesquite and lucuma; , cinnamon, maca, mesquite and lucuma; spirulina and mint; Gojii berries, bee pollen and anything else you like with your chocolate!

  • Melt cacao butter at 80 degrees in food dehydrator or in double boiler
  • Stir in cacao powder
  • Blend with coconut sugar in blender
  • Pour into glass jar

  • Add your add-ins

Thanks to all of clients, friends and family for helping make our lives so full. We can’t wait to see what unfolds here.

Come On Get Happy

A smiley by Pumbaa, drawn using a text editor.

The type of HAPPY that you feel when you’re in alignment with your youest you is the kind that lasts. This is the kind that doesn’t  revolve around anyone else’s happiness. It’s natural feeling of joy, peace and gratitude that will flow through your body no matter what. And guess what? That vibration will actually inspire happiness in others without you doing anything at all.

What makes you happy? Feel it today!

Legos and Other Blocks: A New Way to Pave Your Path

A pile of Lego blocks, of assorted colours and...
Image via Wikipedia

The other day, I asked my son, Dougie to pick up his “blocks” from all over the living room floor. He’s 6. And, he has just started to enjoy arguing with me. “They are not blocks,”  he said. “They are Legos.  They build things”

Woah, my child is a genius, I thought!

What if those things that we think are blocking us from becoming who we want to be and getting where we need to go could actually help build our path? Could your greatest weaknesses truly become your greatest assets?

I’ll tell you that I think YES, of course they can!

A few months back I enlisted the help of yet another healer. I was trying to get over my “block” of not being able to conform. For years, all I have wanted to do is be able to conform just enough to do certain jobs without hassle. Do you want to know what she told me? She told me that I am on the right path. She told me that I am not conforming because I have a different purpose.

When I tell you that I cannot conform, I mean it. I mean, no matter how hard I try, I cannot follow rules. Never been able to.  I have lost money because of this. I was hoping to get an exercise I could do to get me beyond it.

So, I started to rethink everything else that was “stopping” me. And, I decided that instead of judging myself for it, I would honor that part of me and see how I could use it to become more the real me.

What are you afraid of? What do you think is your deepest-buried block? Maybe you don’t even know yet. Let’s start with one fear or weakness. Spill it! Tell me! and I’ll tell you more of mine. Put it right out here in the open. There’s no shame because the bigger your fear, the greater your so-called weakness, the more you have to benefit from. And you how, we will show you how.

I’m afraid of drowning,  being suffocated or hit by a car. I can’t spell. I swear a lot. Sometimes my body gets tired and my mind wants to keep going. I’m slower at some things that I wish I could be faster at. I worry way too much about EVERYTHING.

I’ve gotten over my need to conform. I’ve gotten over my fear of my sixth sense. I am using both right now to serve all of us. How I use these other blocks will be revealed right here in front of you. I have no idea of the outcome. Only that these blocks will FOR SURE become assets to me.

Spill the beans. What’s “blocking” you?  Think my blocks are lame and  that yours are harder to crack?

Don’t be shy! share away.

Hey There Vanilla

#76 - The Harvest Writer

By, Gina LaVerde

Not too long ago, a client (in a distinctly unsatisfied tone) dubbed my writing, “VANILLA.”

And, I, on the other side of the  phone line, closed my eyes – feeling for the gift in her remark.

See, I’m at this place in life where I’ve finally recognized that each moment truly brings a gift. If I manifested the vanilla comment, then I can only stand to gain from it.

I’m passed being offended by criticism. As a professional writer, like most of us – I’ve grown a pretty thick skin for vanilla-ish commentary. I figure that clients are people too, and, sometimes they just can’t find better words to express what they need. Heck, that’s why they hire writers. For Words.

An editor once told me that my work was “more suited for advertising” – as if that were a bad thing. I’ve been told that my restaurant reviews left the reader “too breathless” – as if that were a bad thing. I’ve been told that I am “more of a story-teller than an article writer” – as if that were a bad thing.

I’ve been asked to speed up, cut to the chase, slow down, get into or out of a character’s head, switch perspectives and possibly my total fave critique came from a fiction editor who told me it was “impossible” to write from the perspective of an unborn child. Gotta love it. The thought that even in fiction, things could be “impossible.”

And now, “vanilla.” And, I like vanilla. I mean, it’s no chocolate, but some vanilla in my morning tea or smoothie really brings out the other flavors.

Was my client trying to say that my words provided her with a deliciously subtle yet strong foundation from which she could build the spiciest pizazziest work?  Mmmmmm, I took a short pause on the phone, and began to miss those vanilla lattes I used to drink. But, then I snapped back.

Oh yeah, she didn’t mean the least good thing about this truly exotic spice. Or the work being judged, for that matter.

Truth is, as a writer, of course I want to please my clients. I chose the job. If I can keep my clients happy, I can get paid and move on to the next gig. They can expand their businesses and skip off to vacationland. Everyone wins. So, I stopped to REALLY listen to her AGAIN.

What had I missed? I’d recorded all the conversations we had, and there were many of them. I had a lot of material to work from and was using her own words in the drafts I sent her.

So, how was I gonna please vanilla lady? If my work was vanilla to her, how could I make it chocolate for just one moment? Or, should I recommend her to someone else –because name-calling’s just not nice?

Well, I decided that it wasn’t a good idea to pawn her off on any of my writerly friends, because none of them deserved the potential heckling.

And, the process that followed the decision to stay has been quite eye opening. And, yes a gift.

I stayed. And I wrote. Vanilla-laced-cinnamon piece after fruity, salty, bland doo doo piece after another. Never chocolate. Never. But, I didn’t know that as I wrote. Even pieces that came from deep within my soul didn’t hit the mark for my client. And, later I realized that they didn’t hit the mark for me either.

Her vanilla comment lead her to (in not so many words) refer to me as a liar, lazy person, bad communicator, and yes, even stupid. For a few weeks I actually found myself going out of my way in search of my gifts that were quite obviously sewn between the seams of her words. I let her believe that I lied. I figured there might be a lesson in that too. I even enlisted my spiritual advisors.

I kept sending gratitude for the challenge. I knew there was no way I was in this situation for no reason; I knew I would hit a major breakthrough. And I did.

In the end, there was no pleasing my client. The experience brought me back to a recurring one I had with a family member who used her words to praise my friends and put me down.

When I decided I’d had enough, I sent the client the best work I had, didn’t charge her more, and left her with love and more gratitude than she can ever know.

Her words to me were my manifestation. A mirror of how I was feeling about my writing. Truth hurts, baby cakes. Thank the goddesses that she didn’t call my work “shit.” I’d have a harder time coming up with sweet sounding words about why shit ain’t so bad.   But, I decided that I’m no vanilla. At least not when vanilla means boring. And, I’m not going to attract that kind of crap anymore.

And, so you wanna know why I felt vanilla and she was just strong enough to call me out on it? Because for years, I’ve been writing for other people, while this spicy voice inside me died a little each time.  And, that frightened little writer girl inside me went out searching for another soul who could hold her down. Not inspire her breaking loose. You know – the comfort zone.

I chose pleasing others and making money above publishing my own work. Writing for this client was grueling. Each time I sat down, I got headaches and nausea. Each word was a complete struggle.

Finally, that writer inside is stronger than my fear of failure or being broke on my butt. I’m no longer trying to find people who keep me down. Because, if you look — they are there. Always willing to make you feel inferior.

Here comes MY work.

I can’t fit into anyone’s box anymore. Even if it is a tempting box of chocolates.

Keep it spicy loves!
